Dear Pest Controller,
Spring was late and time's ticking by!
We've got 50+ hives to fill following losses over the Winter of 2009/2010....and being honey bee farmers we need to do it pretty pronto.
So, until 30th JUNE 2010 we're offering a £20 reward and free collection across Cheshire, Wirral, North Wales, Staffordshire, North Shropshire and South Manchester for any PRIME bee swarms referred to us and successfully re-homed.
Please note - swarms in chimneys and heating ducts are rarely successfully removed!
All the best

Are you hi-jacking my thread merylvingien?! ;D You're referring to the 290 quid supposedly-paid-but-not on the B4B web site....and as a fellow 'beek' yourself you'll know that there's a BIG difference between a BBKA standard nuc and a swarm!

I agree, there is a big difference and a prime swam wouldnt be worth as much as a nuc, a cast is only worth a 4 pack of strongbow apparently ;D I though you were intending for pest controllers to collect the swarm, then you come along and pay them 20 quid for it. There are people offering far more for "swarms" this year due to the shortage of bees.
I dont go on the b4b website. But i will now ;D

Sorry, a nuc is a nucleas of bees, the best way to describe it is the start of a colony.
A cast, is small swarm with a virgin queeny!
A prime swarm is a large swarm with a laying queeny!

I wont hand any swarm collections over to bee keepers as thats how we earn our money, by handing the job over we lose out, ive a large network off beekeepers that are in need, and ive insisted this year that all swarms we hand over to bee keepers we expect a pack/crate of beer. I think its only fair.

We collect and hand over for free, it's the caller for the bee problem that pays us.
