Hello all
Just been on a wasp control course with Barrettine at Bristol and the forum got mentioned.
Looking forward to chatting, reading the forum and maybe learning a few tips. Maybe even sharing a few (been moleing for several years).
I currently do some gardening in the quieter Summer months and fancy catching wasps instead with the hope that it is less like hard work (no disrespect to you pro's out there) and better paying.
Sorry to anybody in the Notts area who really doesn't want another competitor. Don't plan on being cheaper that the local council if that's any consolation - just offering a better service!!

hello dr mole welcome, hope you enjoy it here, it's a nice place, remember, the more you post, the more you see have you thought about, or considered doing the rsph L2 ? and just as a matter of interest, you say you've been gardening and moleing, has your insurance premium increased to include carying out treatments for wasps?

Interesting comment Nick. Pricing is very liquid at the moment. Do you think I'll need to go in lower than the council to bring the jobs in? I also need to consider what the competition is charging, but unless it's on their website that will have to wait until the season starts before I start ringing up anonymously for prices. Lots of things to consider I guess. Like accessibility, distance and timescales and wether I might be in the area at some point in the near future.
Ezkill- not considered rsph until you mentioned it. I'd be interested to hear wether anybody else thinks it's a good idea to attend.
The public liability is one of many things I need to get sorted before I start. I might want to consider upping the protection from £1m as well. I paid under £70 with tradesmaninsure last time so I don't mind that going up a bit.

Sorry sounds as if you only want to undercut rather than offer a professional service. Each to their own.

I'm not interested in undercutting anybody - just being competitive. What I don't want to do is price myself out of work. No matter how good or professional you are, the bottom line is that price matters to lots of people in these difficult times.
You seem to be saying that I should be cheaper than the council but not undercut other professionals. Confused.

Welcome to the forum , dont wory too much about the councils , they are all cutting back on pest control sooner or later , our council has done already ......good news for us pesties though. As for being competetive ,your right , the customer wants the job done as cheeply as possible, the frigging window cleaners around here they charge £15 to get rid of wasps....what chance we got against that .
